Bruce Thompson

Bruce Thompson has lived in St. Albert, Alberta, since 1981, having lived previously in eastern Canada and for a period in Africa. He has worked as an environmental scientist in Canada, Africa, Asia, and Latin and Central America. He combines his love of the outdoors in both his art and his work, and draws on this experience in his painting. His artistic goal is to express the specialness of places, whether mountains, streams, fields, or skies. He draws much inspiration from his work and other travels in the prairie, woodlands and mountain areas of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Bruce works both in watercolour and oils media as well as sketching in pencil, charcoal and ink. His most frequent subjects are of mountain, woodland or prairie landscapes in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan but he has also painted subjects from visits to India, Thailand, Africa, Brazil and elsewhere. His paintings have been sold to a number of private collectors and have shown in several galleries and displays. Bruce is a past president of the St. Albert Painters Guild. He, his wife Judy and son David reside in St. Albert.
