Bo Huang
Painter

Bo Huang was born in an ethnic minority area in southwest China's Guangxi, a very poor area of working-class families in 1967.

“All through my childhood and adolescence, I always had a love of painting. I knew that choosing this vocation would make it hard to make a living. But I have always found a way to work in the art world which allowed me to afford to study to get my formal training.

In 1989, I was very fortunate to study art with a wonderful teacher, Professor Chen GanLiang
at Qinzhou Teachers College of China. After graduation, I had the opportunity to tour the country and see many wonderful things. In 1994, at Yulin of China, I was awarded employment by the art school as a painting guide. In 1995, through my employment with the art school, I began to paint portraits, and received many commissions from other foreign countries. From 1996 to 2008, in cooperation with fellow colleagues in Guangzhoum, we founded a company that held dozens of oil painting studios where I was responsible for art direction and training. Many art dealers from U.S., Canada, Europe, and the Middle East would come and buy paintings or order specific subject matters. I gained an excellent reputation in landscape and portraiture. Painting, for me, is an obsession, always aiming at achieving the balance between interpretation and content and accepting the fact, that like Life, each painting is never quite finished”

Bo emigrated to Canada in 2009. He continues to study English. In 2010, he joined the gallery at Rowles & Company, in Edmonton and has completed many commissions in both landscape and portraiture for both their private and corporate clients. In 2016, Bo was commissioned to create a painting for the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors for their 100 Anniversary Celebrations. His painting will be published and publicly displayed at their National Conference in 2017.
